Discover Holidays in Scarborough

Scarborough, Britain’s first ever seaside resort has been attracting visitors for nearly 300 years and with so much to see and do, it is still as popular as ever. Scarborough has two main beaches; North Bay  and South Bay, separated by the rocky headland on which sits a reminder of the past, the historic Scarborough Castle. The large, sandy South Bay beach is  more popular with visitors thanks to its child friendly facilities, donkey rides, traditional seaside stalls and boat trips. Whilst strolling along the South Bay beach, try some traditional seaside delights, from cockles and mussels to candy floss, sticks of rock, ice cream and traditional fudge. Alternatively, for a nostalgic funfair experience with a friendly, family feel head towards Luna Park, also based in the South Bay. Meanwhile in the North Bay, Peasholm Park is a key attraction with its tranquil Chinese themed lake featuring a central island with a Chinese pagoda, mystical gardens and even Chinese dragon pedaloes for hire! Guests can also hire rowing boats on the lake or if you prefer to keep your feet on dry ground, mini golf is available. Animal lovers will adore the Sea Life Centre and Marine Sanctuary; from seals and penguins to sharks and sea dragons, you’ll get closer than ever before to these curious creatures. Visit the interactive rockpools where you can actually handle crabs, touch starfish and even get your hands cleaned by a cleaner shrimp! Scarborough has a new attraction planned for Spring 2016 with the opening of the £18m Seaside Water Park alongside Peasholm Park. it will have both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, water rides, flumes, spa and a car park. Close by is the Ryndle Court Hotel, an ideal location for bed and breakfast; alternatively you could stay at the Sands, 5 star holidays apartments. Scarborough is north east of York, on the A64 and east of Helmsley on the A170. It is south of Whitby on the A171 and easily accessible on the train from York and Leeds.
