Discover Holidays in Pateley Bridge

Pateley Bridge is a small market town in Nidderdale, nestled among the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales. Nidderdale is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is one of the two AONBs in Yorkshire, the other being the Howardian Hills near Malton. The award winning Nidderdale Museum houses Pateley Bridge’s history showing how its prosperity came originally from lead-mining, flax and stone quarrying. The narrow, main High Street is lined with tea shops, restaurants, antique shops, outdoor clothing, newsagents, grocery stores and pubs. The oldest sweet shop in England is here on the High Street serving all the traditional confectionery from glass jars on the shelves behind the counter. Established in 1827 it is well worth a visit before a hard day's walking in the Dales. Other places to visit include Brimham RocksHow Stean Gorge at Lofthouse, Ripley Castle and Stump Cross Caverns. Located off the B6265 north west of Harrogate and east of Grassington, Pateley Bridge has great road links with the nearest train station in Harrogate 10 miles away.
