Discover Holidays in Otley

Otley in West Yorkshire is located in lower Wharfedale and the river Wharfe runs through the town providing an idyllic backdrop with lovely walks and boat trips. In the Manor Square is the impressive statue of Thomas Chippendale, the famous furniture maker who was born in the town. Originally a market town centred on two cattle markets, the town became involved with the Industrial Revolution and started to produce woollen cloth, then later a paper mill and printing works, all driven by water wheels and steam. Today Otley is a very busy market town with 3 weekly markets, a monthly farmer’s market and other events taking place all year round including the Otley Show in May. Otley has long been a favourite for television producers, the town often being used as a set for ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Emmerdale’. There are tea rooms, restaurants and cafes in the town and accommodation is available in hotels and bed and breakfasts, all at reasonable rates. Otley has great links to Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate just off the A659. Leeds Bradford International Airport is 3 miles away as is the local train station at Menston.
