Skipsea
Home > Skipsea | The beautiful village of Skipsea lies on the coast of East Yorkshire, between Bridlington and Hornsea. Its rural, picturesque location is reflected in the main local industries - tourism and farming. Holiday seasons see the village population swell from eight hundred to three thousand as tourists flock to the popular Skipsea caravanning sites. The village is also a haven for bed and breakfast accommodation, offering comfortable rooms and local produce. For a luxurious break, Skipsea Grange is a magnificent country retreat, run by the same family for five generations and set in a grade II listed building. |  |
| Skipsea Castle is a popular tourist attraction for the surrounding areas. Based at Skipsea Brough, just outside the village, the castle is worth a visit for the local views alone. Built in 1086 by Drogo de la Beuvriere it is a fine example of a motte and bailey to survive in England. Sadly, all that remains today is a grassed mound with a charming array of trees and scrubs but it still maintains its status one of the most memorable parts of Yorskhire's heritage. |
