Hebden Bridge

Home > Hebden Bridge

In 2005, Hebden Bridge was named the funkiest place to live in Europe by British Airways’ in-flight magazine, “High Life” largely due to its thriving organic cafés and delis. Its tremendous character is enhanced by the sweeping hills and open countryside around. Hebden Bridge enjoys a national reputation as a liberal, artistic and creative community with a cosmopolitan atmosphere more akin to larger towns.
Hebden Bridge has a few claims to fame; the Bronte sisters wrote their famous novels just a few miles away in Haworth; the American poet, Sylvia Plath is buried at Heptonstall on the hill overlooking Hebden Bridge and the poet Laureate; Ted Hughes was born in Mytholmroyd, two miles away.
