Easingwold
Home > Easingwold | Easingwold is a gem of a market town, offering a great introduction to Herriot Country. There is ample free parking throughout the town, all within easy walking distance of the cobbled market square. Every Friday the weekly market is held attracting visitors, also providing a good opportunity to peruse the local antique and speciality shops. |
| Once situated in the middle of the Forest of Galtres, Easingwold still has links to the name, but there is no Forest. The tourist information point is situated on Chapel Lane where volunteer staff will help you make the best of your visit by pointing out the attractive features and landmarks around the town square including history about the old station that was destroyed in a fire. |
| East of Easingwold are the Howardian Hills. As a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty there are many walks which take you through the charming villages, including Coxwold, Ampleforth and Kilburn. In Kilburn there is the ‘Mouseman’ visitor centre, dedicated to the works of Robert Thompson and the White Horse on the hill-side is visible for miles. | |
| Easingwold offers self-catering accommodation in the form of camping and caravanning and pubs set on the picturesque cobbled market square offer bed and breakfast and evening meals. There are a few restaurants which offer good places to eat out. Easingwold is just off the A19, south of Raskelf and north of Shipton. |
