From the company who have delighted audiences for a decade with epic dramas, hilarious spoofs and witty adaptations (including the 2007 Olivier Award winning ‘The 39 Steps’, just opened on Broadway), the ultimate in swashbuckling Ruritanian romance – ‘The Prisoner of Zenda’ – adapted by Nobby Dimon from the Victorian novel by Anthony Hope.

British aristocrat, Rudolph Rassendell, is distantly related to the royal family of Ruritania. When visiting for the coronation of his cousin, the crown prince, he is discovered to be a double of the drunken and dissolute monarch.

Rebellion and kidnapping, mistaken identity and romance, swordplay and dashing good looks as our hero saves the day and beautiful Princess Flavia is forced to choose between her heart and duty.

“They say laughter is the best medicine, and if so North Country Theatre performances should be available on prescription.” Darlington and Stockton Times.
